March

My students have been quite busy working lately. My grade 2 students have watched three new videos since the beginning of the month. They are learning the alphabet, so of course they have sang the alphabet song and the Bingo song (which is really popular among my students). We also learn the seasons and review the months of the year. Here are the videos, we have been watching.

Fruits and Vegetables

In January and February, I have been doing fruit and vegetable activities. I found lots of interesting activities and most of all, I found two great songs. The first one is 'Are you Hungry' and the second is 'Do you like broccoli ice cream'.

Animals

Last week, my grade-5 students started an unit about animals and fantastic beasts. I like watching videos and listening to music with them. It is a fun way to practice pronunciation. I always write the lyrics for them but I erase some words so they have to listen.

This week, we listened to 'What does the fox say?'. They really liked it.

Question Words

Just before starting my Christmas activities with my grade 6 students, I reviewed the question words cause we'll have some activities in January about those words. I wanted to know if they remembered the question words we have practiced since grade 3.

I found very good activities about the question words on Funny Miss Valerie website, but my grade-6 students will only do them in January. In December they listened to a song with lots of question words and they LOVED the song. The title is 'How the question owl'. I found that song on a ESL site.

Go Away Big Green Monster

I don't read a lot of stories to my students but sometimes I do. I prefer videos because the students see the pictures better. So when I teach parts of the body to my grade 3 and 4 students, I like to show them the 'Go Away Big Green Monster' video. The students like it a lot better than when I read the book. They think it is funny.

If your students prefer the book, it was written by Ed Emberley.

Christmas songs

Christmas is coming soon... so my students sing a lot of Christmas songs. Here are some videos of songs I like to listen with them.

Grade 2 : Jingle Bells from Super Simple learning (a wonderful ESL site)

I also like watching the chipmunk version with them. They think it is funny.

Grade 3: Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer

Santa Claus is coming to Town

Grade 4: Up on the rooftop which is one of my favourite Christmas song

                 Frosty the snowman

In grade 5 and 6, I listen to Christmas tree and Feliz Navidad. I couldn't find good videos for those songs so they just listen to the songs from CDs.

ENJOY!

Happy!

Here is a video I like watching with my grade-5 students in the feelings & emotions unit. We usually watch the video from the movie Despicable Me 2. Students like it and I like it too.
